ארסן ונגר: "רגע עצוב לעולם הכדורגל"

הבשורות הקשות שהגיעו מספרד, לפיהן חוסה אנטוניו רייס נהרג בתאונת דרכים כשהוא בן 35 בלבד, תפסו את עולם הכדורגל בהלם מוחלט. הקבוצות בהן שיחק והשחקנים איתם שיתף פעולה לאורך השנים ספדו לו, קיבצנו את עיקרי הציוצים.
קפטן ריאל מדריד, סרחיו ראמוס, שגדל עם רייס במחלקת הנוער של סביליה, נפרד ברשתות החברתיות: "שבור. הרוס. אין לי מילים. כל האהבה למשפחה. תמיד נזכור אותך, חבר! נוח בשלום על משכבך אחי". תיירי הנרי שחלק עם החלוץ חדר הלבשה בארסנל כתב: "אני הרוס מלשמוע את החדשות העצובות על חוסה אנטוניו רייס. שחקן מדהים, חבר נהדר לקבוצה ואדם יוצא מן הכלל. אני מאחל למשפחתו ולחבריו המון כוח ואומץ להתגבר על הזמנים הקשים".
ססק פברגאס, חבר נוסף מימיו של רייס בתותחנים, נפרד במכתב אמוציונלי: "החבר הטוב הראשון שלי בעולם הכדורגל. בחור צנוע שתמיד היה עם חיוך על הפנים. כדורגלן ענק ופנומן אנושי. לא יכולתי להיפרד ממך באופן גרוע יותר. לעולם לא אשכח כשאתה והמשפחה שלך אירחתם אותי בחג המולד הראשון שלי באנגליה כשהייתי בן 16.גם החיבור שלנו במגרש היה מיוחד ותמיד היה קל למצוא אותך כדי שתבקיע. תמיד אמרתי שהיית אחד הכשרונות הכי גדולים של הכדורגל שלנו ואני יודע שלא טעיתי. לפני יומיים דיברתי עליך בראיון ואלי זה היה סימן שנזכרתי בך, חברי הטוב. לעולם לא אשכח אותך, תמיד תהיה בליבנו. אוהב אותך מאוד".
המנהל המקצועי של סביליה, מונצ'י, הזכיר את חברו של רייס, אנטוניו פוראטה, שמת גם הוא בנסיבות טראגיות: "חדשות שבלתי אפשרי להאמין להן. בלתי אפשרי לעכל. כל כך קשה, אלוהים. נוח על משכבך בשלום חוסה אנטוניו רייס. איזה עצב גדול. איזה אגף שמאלי תעשו אתה ואנטוניו שם למעלה".
איבן ראקיטיץ' מברצלונה, ששיחק עם רייס בסביליה, נפרד: "אחי, רק אלוהים יודע למה הוא לקח אותך מוקדם מהעולם הזה. תחיה בליבי לשארית ימיי. אני שבור וכאוב. תודה על הזכרונות היפים שהשארת לי. אוהב אותך מאוד אחי היקר. נוח בשלום על משכבך". סרחיו אגוארו כתב: "חבר טוב שחלקתי איתו המון רגעים גדולים. הכאב גדול. תנחומיי וכל תמיכתי במשפחתו". גם ארסן ונגר, שאימן את רייס בארסנל, אמר: "אני רוצה לכבד אותו ואת משפחתו, כולם עצובים במועדון שלנו. יום הגמר של ליגת האלופות הוא יום עצוב מאוד".
